VPS & DDS TECHNOLOGY
Dynamic Dedicated Server or DDS is the RackForce brand name for its hosting solutions based on virtual private server technology (VPS).

Do you need a bandwidth option with no overage charges? RackForce's Unmetered Bandwidth options help you manage your costs through the predictability of a fixed monthly charge for bandwidth consumption. This option is perfect for those who do not know how much ingress and egress traffic they will have. At the same time RackForce's flexible options will allow you to rapidly scale services to suit the changing dynamics of e-Business and accommodate growth.

Unmetered means you can use as much bandwidth/transfer as needed without ever worrying about bandwidth overages or extra charges. We don't monitor or meter your usage so you can use as much as you need. The maximum amount of transfer is limited only by the connection you are signed up for. Metered means we are monitoring your usage and you are responsible for any overages. Unlimited is a common untruth because you are actually limited by your speed that's why we prefer to clarify as Unmetered .

As an example, RackForce's 10Mbps Unmetered Connection at full capacity is capable of transferring about 6000GB of data in a month.

(10 Mbps) * 2,592,000 seconds = 3,164.0625 Gigabytes. This formula is calculating the maximum amount of data you could transfer in 30 days (2,592,000 seconds) per direction (ingress or egress) using a RackForce dedicated bandwidth connection. RackForce provides its customers with full duplex dedicated connections the theoretical maximum amount of data that could be transferred would be double this or: 3,164 Gigabytes * 2 = 6,328 Gigabytes of transfer.

NOTE: Each packet sent has information about itself stored along with your data, generally referred to as overhead so the maximum amount of actual data you are able to transfer will be the total amount capable minus the overhead.

All RackForce bandwidth options utilize multi-homed, full duplex connections to multiple Tier One providers. At RackForce all Internet connections are "dedicated" not shared. There is no over allocation of customer service switches in our network. Each customer receives their bandwidth as allotted regardless of what bandwidth other customers use. Most of RackForce's new servers come standard with the 10Mbps dedicated Unmetered Bandwidth connection except for the Windows VPS which is connected through a 10 Mbps shared connection. For more bandwidth information, please read the RackForce Blog article on bandwidth, "Understanding Bandwidth".

Dedicated Unmetered and Metered Bandwidth Options:
Dedicated 3Mbps Unmetered Connection For clients with higher traffic expectations or requiring additional "burstability" the 3Mbps unmetered option will provide needed headroom for peak traffic times when most e-business is conducted.
Dedicated 5Mbps Unmetered Connection For more demanding applications RackForce offers a 5Mbps dedicated unmetered option. This dedicated level of connectivity provides for greater and more consistent throughput.
Dedicated 10Mbps Unmetered Connection The 10Mbps connection is RackForce's most robust unmetered bandwidth offering. Providing a full dedicated 10Mbps ingress and egress transfer, this option is recommended for high traffic hosting and content providers requiring unparalleled performance and capacity without the worries normally associated with this level of bandwidth usage.
Dedicated 100Mbps "Metered" Connection For enterprise and other high demand, high performance needs, Rackforce can provide a multi-homed, full-duplex 100Mbps dedicated access port. For more information about these options and the latest bandwidth pricing please contact us at sales@rackforce.com.

Quick Definitions:
Multi-homed Used to describe a host connected to two or more networks. RackForce uses BGP routing to do best path routing between multiple National and Global carriers.
Full Duplex Refers to the transmission of data in two directions simultaneously.
T1 A term taken from telecommunications. It is a popular option for businesses connecting to Internet. RackForce uses layer 3 router/switches to simulate T1 connectivity to dedicated hosts in its data centers.
